The project involves widening a 1.8-mile segment of Atlantic Avenue from Florida's Turnpike to Jog Road in unincorporated Palm Beach County. The proposed project would widen the existing four-lane roadway to a six-lane roadway with special emphasis on improvements for bicyclist and pedestrian safety. Additionally, stormwater management facilities will be evaluated within the study area. Several intersection alternatives were developed at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Jog Road including a Partially Displaced Left Turn (PDLT) concept. The project also involved extensive public involvement in addition to coordination with the Palm Beach TPA, Lake Worth Water Management District, and Palm Beach County
FDOT District 3 conducting a (PD&E) Study to determine the engineering and environmental effects of the proposed widening of SR 30A in Panama City Beach, FL. This study evaluated alternatives for the addition of two lanes of capacity to the four-lane section of SR 30A from Mandy Lane to the Thomas Drive intersection. The need to evaluate alternatives was based on projected future traffic volumes and failing level-of-service (LOS) for this segment of SR 30A. This PD&E Study documented the need for the roadway improvements, and presented the procedures utilized to develop and evaluate a preferred alternative.Design criteria were established and a preferred alternative was developed. The PD&E Study also satisfied the requirements of FDOT and follows the process for a Categorical Exclusion (CE) II outlined in the FDOT Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Manual. The study process was developed in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other applicable federal and state regulations.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) conducted a PD&E Study to evaluate alternatives which will enhance overall traffic operations at the existing interchange of SR 9/I-95 and Northlake Boulevard. The project is located along SR 9/I-95 between the Blue Heron Boulevard (SR 708) interchange and the PGA Boulevard (SR 786) interchange. The recommended roadway improvements consisted of the following: widen the off-ramps to provide triple left and triple right turn lanes and extend both two lane off-ramps to serve as two lane exit-only ramps by creating additional auxiliary lanes along I-95. This recommended roadway alternative also extended the northbound on-ramp with an added auxiliary lane and would widen Northlake Boulevard from 3-lanes to 4-lanes in each direction between Military Trail and Sandtree Drive. This was a high profile project involving right-of-way acquisition where Scalar conducted public involvement consisting of public meetings and hearing for ultimately, gaining stakeholder consensus
